Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Where does lasagna rank on the all-time home cooked dinner list?  The reason I ask is Carrie and I (mostly Carrie) whipped up a mean one tonight for my mom.  For me, I don't think there is a better dinner than a homemade lasagna, save one.  I mean a great steak dinner is just that, but I have to be in the mood for steak and grilling in the cold is a pain.  Pork tenderloin ranks right up there, as does a truly exceptional meatloaf (hard to come by), or maybe roast beef.  Where lasagna separates itself from these other culinary delights is the fact (at least in my world) that these me-favorite meals need side dishes; the usual mashed potatoes, vegetables, perhaps stuffing for the pork.  Lasagna stands alone.  You can start with a salad, but it's not necessary, and the addition of really fresh Italian bread is always a nice compliment, but lasagna is the lone wolf of dinners.  The Clint Eastwood of dinners, if you will.  I mentioned that Carrie and I made one of these beauties today and despite my input, it turned out great.  In fact (not really), while she was mixing the ricotta cheese, she kept having to explain to me that it wasn't frosting and that I really shouldn't lick the spoon.

What does any of this have to do with musky fishing?  Not much other than the fact that after trolling for a few hours in the wind and cold and not catching anything, it's nice to have some lasagna when you get home.  The water clarity on the east side was less than two feet with orange when we left around 6PM.  Why do I see myself eating a lot of lasagna this November?

(By the way, the only dinner that trumps lasagna is, of course, Thanksgiving turkey dinner; the Muhammad Ali of dinners.)

Good day my friends
I respectfully disagree with our leader's favorite dinner.
My ALL time favorite dinner is fresh , same day , caught Mahi Mahi , or any species of snapper. Not an everyday possibility. Cannot go to store and buy it. Cannot have it at fish camp with your B F F's. Need it for my all time favorite breakfast the next day, a fish sandwich. It also means, one of my favorite, enjoyable, festive pastimes occurred that day,
A GOOD DAY OF FISHING
ALA BALA BALA
Food channel out
I have a big appetite for Hocks - - Schnitzel as my favorite! Slow roasted ham shank with fresh krout and apple pieces.2nd place would be fresh halibut grilled on a cedar plank with dill hollandaise sauce.
JoJo, Especially Yellowtail Snapper!

My keyboard keeps shorting out from all the drool.  I made a pot of homemade chicken soup followed by an appetizer of calamari coated in flour & corn meal & finished off with a bowl (large, of course) of mussels steamed in Modelo dark beer.  And you gotta soak up the juice with some thick rye bread.

That's my warm weather eating.  Winter eating is just beginning to kick in.

Smacznie' !!

I love fish, Joe, but fall musky fishing may call for different dinner parameters.  (I'm pretty sure I'll never keep and eat what I catch after a successful day of musky fishing.)  Cold weather fishing always makes me want "comfort food" when I get off the water, and there are very few "comfort foods" that rank higher than meat, cheese, pasta and sauce piled high together for me.  It takes longer to shop for the fixin's than it does to prepare and there always a ton left over providing for the breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day.  Cold lasagna makes great boat food.  The key is to "glue" the layers together with mozzarella cheese.

Larry, I'm down with anything cooked in sauerkraut.

John, the soup is solid, but being prone to gout attacks your main dish might put me out of commission until opening day!

All solid choices, gang.  To each his own, suum cuique, and jedem das Seine for Larry and his sauerkraut.

Not catching fish in November always results in crazy posts from me...

To Each His Own for Lunch, JoJo ' s Chili all the way!

mmmmm...spareribs & sauerkraut (naturally, homemade).  You're talking to my stomach, Scott.  Those are even better than a fried liverwurst & onion sandwich on rye bread slathered with Weber's horseradish mustard, ordered from Wiechec's on Clinton, (with a glass of chianti).

Now that's livin' !!

Why does food always make for good, long threads?
