Fish report 8/26

Finally had a day without family obligations so woke up and went fishing.  Hooked up right off the bat casting a shad but lost the fish.  Headed upriver to jig the Frenchman drift.  That drift now reminds me of the dreadful song that played all summer "Now you're just somebody that I used to know."  4 drifts, absolutely nothing, time to try a new area.  First drift had a good rip on a green tube but didn't hook up.  Left the area and came back an hour later and hooked a very nice fish.  Got it right to the boat, turned to get the net and the fish dove into the trolling motor and got off.  Finished the day losing a dink right at the boat in front of Strawberry with jet skis and cigarette boats swirling around me.  Apparently fishing boats emit a strong gravitational pull forcing them all to come within 20 feet of our boats.  No fish in the net (sorry Scott) but it was fun to finally fight a musky again.

Listen Nannen, I blew a lot of money signing you this off-season and I expect production!  Remember that Garbage Plate, Dino BBQ and Genesee Beer clause in your contract I agreed to?  And the other weird clause... what was it?  Oh yeah, what kind of a musky angler needs the complete Nancy Drew collection?  I wonder if there is the musky equivalent of Tarvaras Jackson out there?

Hey Nancy Drew has often been mentioned with Hemingway as one of the great American novelists.  Look at it this way.......I actually hooked a fish for a change.  Lot's of musky season left.  One 50 can be a game changer.

Thanks for the contract extension.  I just took my son to college and time on the river was very rare this summer.  I'll be out a bit this fall and hope to put a few points on the board for you.  Do you think I should start working on the 50 shades of Gray trilogy and ditch Hardy boys?

Just don't start reading the Twilight series, although I've always said vampires would be great musky anglers on high pressured or infertile lakes.  You and I have hit a cold streak.  We should read the Old Man and the Sea.
