Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Many thanks to Joe Dolan for visiting at the NMA booth today.  he came over to chat, sat down to b.s. & next thing you know is talking inland muskies to the crowd. Had people stop in from Waneta/Lamoka area, Chautauqua area, Kinzua area, Muskies Canada, Pennsylvania, Rochester area & on & on & on. We talked Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Bear, Lamoka, Conesus, Kinuza, Cave Run & I know I've forgotten others.

The Predator & the Prey (same-same)

Went to Chautauqua with my son a couple of days ago to get the kinks out, do some EZ fishing & catch a mess of perch, sunnies & bluegills. Got about 70 perch, mostly in the 9"-10" range & several small ones.

Cleaning a small 7-1/2 incher, I saw this in the stomach when I did the fillet:

Well, that was interesting since it was such a small fish, so I…

Meeting Tues, the 4th

Hey, gang...don't forget Jonah Withers (the Sturgeon General) of USFWS will be presenting his lake sturgeon telemetry study at the meeting. 1st time we heard about it, we thought that it would be great to get muskies involved in a study like that. A lot of miles have been traveled since then & the rest is close to being history!

It'll be a good one!

Bill Hilts Jr Outdoor Beat TV Show

If you get a chance to watch live cable TV tomorrow (Wed the 17th), you'll see a recognizably very successful NMA musky fly-guy on the Bill Hilts Jr Outdoor Beat on Cable TV (Ch 23?). "Recognizably very successful" automatically leaves me out, but, if you watch, you'll see Nate Carr, the NMA's successful fly-guy. Here's the link for Live-Streaming.  He'll be on about 3:30.…

2016 NMA Summer Picnic

(weather.gov) is showing a high temp Sunday of 79 deg. and a humidity of 71%.  That sounds like great Stiglemeier picnic weather to me.

Hope to see everyone there!

Man, it's hot!!

How hot is it?

- It's so hot, the chickens are laying hard-boiled eggs!

- It's so hot, I saw a robin using a potholder to pull a worm out this morning!

- It's so hot, my car was overheating in the driveway before I even started it!

- It's so hot, I saw a dog chasing a cat...and both were walking!

FAS @ Muskies Inc. Chap 69

I got a call from Toothy last week & he asked if I was available to give a presentation on the FAS's that we had recently put in, so I'll be there on the 18th.  This is the same presentation that was given at our Conservation meeting last Feb.

If anyone is interested in going to either see it for the 1st time or see it again & can meet me somewhere near the Thruway, I'd be happy to pick you up on the way up.

Meeting starts at 7:00 but I'll be up there at…

Musky Management in NY

At yesterday's meeting a good discussion went on about the Angler Diary Study & our club's involvement.  Below is a link to a report by the DEC that mentions the Niagara Musky Association's contribution to long-term assessment of the fishery.  Many thanks to Tony for running the program:

Fishing Regs

For new & old members:  Once June comes around, everyone's excitement goes up six or seven notches.  Musky season opens on different days depending on where you're fishing.

1. If you're fishing in Lake Erie or its tribs, musky season is 3rd Sat in June (18th) thru Nov 30th.

2. If you're fishing the Lower Niagara, 3rd Sat in June thru Dec 15th

3. If you're fishing inland lakes it already opened, last Sat in May thru Nov 30th.

Also keep in mind, because there…
