Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Thank you, Jay!

Took some family members bass fishing yesterday. With the cold front, north winds, and heavy boat traffic, it was tougher than Thursday. Only NY licenses so we stuck to the Tonawanda channel. Still caught 14, including some nice ones. Here's a chunky 19 incher caught by my niece Katie. She actually had the three biggest, including 17 and 18 inchers, and generally always out-fishes me.

I hope to go muskie fishing again, soon.

Tony,Nice Bass! I was surprised to catch Bass on Wiley's in 24 ft of water trolling for muskies at night. One I would think nothing about, but two in one night! Both were good size as well.

Buy Katie a float suit and she if she wants to fish with you in the Wittek and Henning.  Since she "generally out-fishes you", make sure you make the deal to split the winnings before you head out.

Nice bass, Katie!

Nice bass Katie! Ala bala bala jojoout
Good to see you guys had results. What technique were you guys using?

Riley,

We were drop-shotting gulp 3-inch black shad minnows in mainly 18 to 22 feet of water.

Great to see kids getting out on the water to enjoy some fishing. Great job Tony and Katie!
I need to learn this "drop shotting" gear fishing is a lot more beginner friendly on big water

Riley,

Drop-shotting is pretty simple. My 6 year old grand-nephew was with us and he had no trouble learning the technique, and caught a few himself. Tie a hook in-line using a palomar knot and leaving about a 2-foot tag line after the hook. Tie a 1/8 to 3/8 oz sinker at the tag end. Stick a plastic minnow (I use Berkley gulp 3" black shad minnows) or grub on the hook and drag the sinker along the 18 to 22 foot edges or shelves (you can go shallower or deeper) and catch fish. I find lighter line works best, and always use 6-lb fluorocarbon (Berkley Vanish).

If you ever want to give it a try, let me know. We can work it around some muskie fishing. Actually, in the river you can drop-shot the same places you muskie fish (and at the same time).
