Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all. Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

At yesterday's meeting a good discussion went on about the Angler Diary Study & our club's involvement. Below is a link to a report by the DEC that mentions the Niagara Musky Association's contribution to long-term assessment of the fishery. Many thanks to Tony for running the program:

For new & old members: Once June comes around, everyone's excitement goes up six or seven notches. Musky season opens on different days depending on where you're fishing.
1. If you're fishing in Lake Erie or its tribs, musky season is 3rd Sat in June (18th) thru Nov 30th.
2. If you're fishing the Lower Niagara, 3rd Sat in June thru Dec 15th
3. If you're fishing inland lakes it already opened, last Sat in May thru Nov 30th.
Also keep in mind, because there…

Everyone...I got an email from Jonah Withers (USFWS) who was going to talk telemetry. Unfortunately he had a change in work assignment & isn't able to present. We did hold him to trying again another time though.
If you made it to the NF show & listened to Lance Valentine's talk on sonar, you no doubt learned a lot. Tues we'll be showing his DVD on setting up your sonar. He goes step-by-step on setting up an Elite 7 & 5. EZ to understand & he goes button by…

There will be NO tree wrapping on Motor next Sun, the 24th or the rest of this year. Meanwhile, Jojo's been on the Bat phone talking about S'berry, but so far no news. Watch our site for any changes. There's always a possibility for volunteer work.Andy, Park Mgr & DEC's Connie gave our club their sincerest & most grateful appreciation for the volunteer work that we've done. They both said: Thank you, thank you,…

Done like Thanksgiving turkey; done like an Easter ham; and done before noon. Motor Island is done. Nine members showed up this morning & made quick work of it. Many, many thanks to the volunteers. There's nothing left to do for this year. Read the Motor Island Beav Report in May's newsletter!!

Sat, the 19th, I went to a fly-tying show in Syracuse called Tie-One-On. A small, but excellent show. There were tiers, instructors, exhibitors and organizations like Casting for Recovery & the DEC. It was mostly Central NY but a few had heard about the musky fishing in WNY's Niagara & Bflo Harbor. All fly-fishing talk, though. I showed a few musky pics (posted by Nate) from past newsletters & pics off the web. The fly-guys were in…

While at the show yesterday at the DEC booth, noticed that they had the new 2016-17 NYS Fishing Regs out. I'll try to get a stack from them & have them at the next meeting (hopefully). Here is the cover shot:

The Oak Orchard Fly Shop on Main St in Williamsville is closing up (going out of business) and they have one of our "Know the Diff" signs. Should I try to pick it up from them?

Steve...Thanks for the info. I subscribe to receive DEC news, notices & alerts, and they come into my g-mail thru a gov't delivery service. I think the site was asking for yours, too, which is why it showed up as "phishing."
Anyway, I deleted the whole blog so no one else ends up with a problem. I'll see if I can find it directly on the DEC site.
Thanks

The eagle's nest tree was wrapped last year and the eaglets might be gone. No sign of any balds. One heck of a beav lodge on the west leg of the horseshoe.…

Out at 9:00, back by 1:00. Ran out of fencing. Best pic of the day?....a tree that was wrapped last year was untouched by the beavs and all the small trees around it looked like pencils. If you ever thought that the wrapping doesn't make a difference, come to the islands next week & see for yourself.
A Beaver Abatement report to follow in our next newsletter.
So far, we're still "ON" for next Sunday, the…
