Keep in mind that I am always looking for images for our newsletter; fish, sunsets, sunrises, other anglers fishing, equipment, anything fishing related. I can use them all.  Large, unedited images are best. Thanks.

Dredging Entrance to Black Rock Canal?

Scott and I are on our way from our marina to the River and there is a huge barge and crane that appears to be dredging in the River entrance to the canal in front of the gas dock at Rich Marine. Anybody have any ideas about what they're doing there? I took pictures and will post them later.

August Meeting

NMA members,

We learned yesterday that our August speaker had to cancel due to a family health
issue.

In lieu of the scheduled speaker, we will be reviewing this year's catch data to-date - see what's working, what may be different from years past, and how the season's progressing so far. This info should assist you in your Niagara River fishing pursuits for the next couple months.

DEC Blog Post

Steve...Thanks for the info.  I subscribe to receive DEC news, notices & alerts, and they come into my g-mail thru a gov't delivery service.  I think the site was asking for yours, too, which is why it showed up as "phishing."

Anyway, I deleted the whole blog so no one else ends up with a problem.  I'll see if I can find it directly on the DEC site.

Thanks

The eagle's nest tree was wrapped last year and the eaglets might be gone.  No sign of any balds.  One heck of a beav lodge on the west leg of the horseshoe.…

NMA: 1, Beavers: 0

Out at 9:00, back by 1:00.  Ran out of fencing.  Best pic of the day?....a tree that was wrapped last year was untouched by the beavs and all the small trees around it looked like pencils.  If you ever thought that the wrapping doesn't make a difference, come to the islands next week & see for yourself.

A Beaver Abatement report to follow in our next newsletter.

So far, we're still "ON" for next Sunday, the…

Know the difference signs

Scott and I went on an adventure placing stickers on our existing know the difference signs to update the new 54" size limit and our contact information. We managed to get stickers on signs at Dick's Sporting Goods both Maple and Transit locations, Griffon Park, Niawanda Park, Sheridan Boat Launch, East River Marsh, Big 6 Marina and Beaver Isl. Marina. We also discovered quite a few locations that either didn't have signs or or the signs were missing or removed. We will need volunteers to go… Read More

U.S. Customs & Border Protection

I talked with Agent Mike Hall of the U.S. Customs & Border Protection today and he agreed to give his talk on the rules & regs of re-entering the United States at our May 5th membership meeting.  He was unavailable to be at our re-scheduled April 14th meeting but will be there at 7:00 pm on 5/05.  If you want the straight story on re-entering, from the source, the May meeting is the one top be at.  Bring your questions, ask away, & I'll see ya' there!

April Newsletter HIghlights the MUSKY PASSION!

The April newsletter exemplifies the incredible passion and dedication to the fishery and each other that members bring to this group.  Totally impressive!  Personal and family thanks to Scott, Carrie, John, Tony and everyone else for all you all do for so many others that may have no idea.  Never Stop! You make a difference!

NMA has created Wonderful Posterity

It will be interesting to see how the new rules on min length allow for even bigger monster musky now.  The cover and story in the new NYS Fishing Regulations booklet is something that will forever remain in the posterity of NYS.  Awesome job! The NYS-ASA award may be the highest honor ever bestowed to a WNY fishing or conservation group that I can recall in my 34 years of outdoor reporting.  Congrat's to Tony Scime, Scott McKee and all the members that make up our fine and dedicated group…

Great 2015 Banquet!

NMA friends...what a super banquet! Each year in spring, on the 4th floor of the Pearl Street Grill, a special party brings together the greatest gathering of meaningful musky anglers in the world.  The exciting slides, stories that were shared, lure tables and prizes, all were beyond expectation.  When we first arrived, I tried to buy a youth ticket for my grandson, Scott countered "no, he is still kid, he is our guest tonight! We're trying to make fishermen!" I was blown away. So I went…

A BIG thank you to everyone who came out to tonight's banquet. I know I had a great time and from what I saw and heard so did everyone else. Congratulations to our top ten winners. Also, congratulations to John Jaroz winner of the Bill Mendel president's award, Carl Schenk winner of the Tim Wittek president's award and Mike Fortunate winner of the NMA memorial award. Very well deserved gentlemen. Thank you for your many contributions to our club.

Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

I just found out through my Boat US enews that there is a recall on certain Kidde disposable extinguishers that were made in 2013 and 2014. here is a link to find out if your extinguisher is included.

http://www.webfulfillment.com/StandardRegister/lpr.asp?l=614&ac=&ar=

I found out mine is older and not part of the recall.
