Received a text from the DEC today mentioning that they've been out in the Harbor doing their electro-fishing for our telemetry study and have only two more muskies to go. I'll try to get a report for our June meeting.

The DEC got the last receiver in for the spring spawning run. This one is going right in the middle of SBH. They talked to the Marina Prks Dept & the marina's manager & got the OK to hang one down off the wave attenuation dock at the Harbor's entrance & one in the middle of the Harbor. Larry sent me this pic of Jo Bucher & walleye pro Alan Haas at the St. Croix Rod Fishing Summit at the rod factory in Park Falls, WI. From his texts, it was hard to tell who had more stories, Joe or Larry.

Editorial in today's Buffalo News talks about the disastrous affect the budget proposed by the President will have on the great lakes.  A lot of the things the NMA has been championing will get a low blow should the budget be implemented.

It's not Howdy Doody Time!

The DEC was out last Thurs & picked up all the receivers. They only had trouble finding one, tried a few times, ended up pulling up a boat anchor at the coordinates, did the others, came back to the original boat anchor spot & removed the final.

They also dropped one in at the basin in the South Gap to over-winter. This one will keep an eye on the ones that are tagged to see which ones are still around. Risk will be low. It's in deep water so no ice, there's no boat traffic or…

The DEC is scheduled to be in the Harbor on Friday, the 30th to pick up our receivers. They'll be taken back to the garage, downloaded & the data sent to GLATOS. Then we'll have all winter to scratch our heads & figure out what's going on.
